Dengue scare

So ya... I thought I had dengue. Been on MC past 2 days and it's hard coming back to work having rested 2 days. Man I really wish I could sleep in this morning. Feeling lethargic.

Contemplating if I should head down to visual orgasm coming Sunday to flip through Joseph's works and possibly place my deposit... hmm. Working on another potential piece that could perhaps materialize in another year or two. Always wanted my tattoo to have the number 8 in some form. 8 being my jersey number and my lucky #. Here's M.C Escher's work which I thought I could work on... I know it looks disgusting... but ants aside, I was thinking of using the figure of eight frame and add some other stuff to it... not sure what yet, could be a rose, could be ladybugs, an amphibian... watever. I tried using paint to remove the ants.. not very good but I'll photoshop when I get home.

Forgetful, "Chao Kuan" or "Giam"?

Had a birthday celebration for 4 June babies yesterday. It was a combined celebration cos the dates fall on 20th, 21st, 22nd and 28th June. Angela got her friend to buy the cake cos she was on leave yesterday and wouldn't be able to bring it in. What does this have to do with forgetful, chao kuan or giam, you may ask. You see, the cake costs $25. 18 people were present at the celebration excluding the bday hunks+babes. Split that equally it comes up to ~$1.40 per person. Not every one had the cake (not because there wasn't enough... cos they din wanna eat? And what pisses me off is 1/2 the people just walked off like that after singing the bday song. Din even bother to help clear up the mess or like inform us that they didn't want the cake.. watever right.) And now we're having a hard time collecting money cos people are just so "buay zi dong" 2 email reminders have been sent out by 2 different people already and so far we've collected money from 5 people.

There's this girl (call her ys) who came for the celebration but din have the cake. Ys's cubicle is just next to mine with a partition so we don't see each other often but whatever she says, I can hear loud and crystal clear. After the first email was sent, (I assume this was intentional) she casually asked another girl (hc) if she went to collect her share of the cake yet - at this point the cake was fully consumed.. duh.. who would keep a birthday cake for so long.. not say some atas expensive cake also. How can anyone be so petty over $1.40 and a bloody cake???? Wah lau eh. I've heard that she's got personality issues but this is beyond understanding. So that was just one girl.. Now tell me, are the rest just forgetful, chao kuan, or giam?

one-fucking-dollar-and-forty-fucking-cents! I'll gladly pay the remaining if it'll make me feel better.... but that's just stupid, so I shall not.

Free Time @ Work

It's the 2nd day in a row my boss is away. Need to talk to her about next stage of the project but a bit hard if she's not around. Have been rather productive (my standard) today. Edited the activity sheet needed for the students who will be coming in tomorrow. Did I mention I hate teaching kids my sister's age. Bad experience. Anyway, been chatting for the rest of the morning waiting for my boss to come in. Nothing till now.. Xing Yi sent me this link for cupcakes. There are some interesting looking ones... but are they edible??? I thought of getting some for my housewarming maybe... but then again.. how many crave for cupcakes? I don't think anyone will notice if cupcakes weren't served.

Prepped for INK

For 2 years I've wanted to get inked. But couldn't find the one. I may have the design in mind now... still thinking if it's really what I want. And also whether to get it in colour or just black. Man I guess that will take another month or so.

The other thing is, where to get it done... I've visited a few sites... Visual Orgasm, Alive Tattoo and Acid Crue (which I think is way too hardcore... they dabble in body mod - not for the faint hearted.)

Was suppose to meet FartEd for 跟踪 after work today, but something cropped up and I told her I couldn't make it.... but in the end I wasn't gonna do that thing I was suppose to do and so once again, I could make it to the movie.... at which point FartEd had already invited Jo to accompany her... works out fine cos I thought I'd be pretty tired from work and it's been a while since I gotten home early anyway.

Having said that, I still went ahead and made plans to meet Liting for dinner tonight (doubt I'll have much to eat.. lunch was so filling)... been procrastinating for the longest time so decided it was time to put dinner plans to action and forgo my nap time.

it's 1.50PM now and in another hour+ I'm gonna have my D-day follow up session with the brits. Gee... can't wait. Still got one spare ticket for Night safari this Friday... hmm who can I ask?

My 1st punctured tyre!!

I wish I was in the mood to take photos of it... but nope. Left the office ~5.15PM to meet my grandma for dinner. ~200M down the road, this driver from the adjacent car waved frantically at me and started pointing at my rear tyre. I signaled (thank you) to him and stopped at the side of the road. I was hoping that maybe my seatbelt was caught at the door.. or something lame.. but yeah... tyre went flat..

I drove at 30KPH down to the nearest civilization within Jurong Island (Read: Sakra - Where the one and only food court is) and decided to change to my spare tyres there. I was determined to fix it myself... but 2 nice enough auxiliary police came and gave me a hand... actually I just stood back and watched them do their thing... I did manage to loosen one nut. And in the process managed to cut my finger... not a deep cut, hadn't noticed until much later.

I thanked the guys and continued my journey out of the island. Was told I could get my tyre fixed near jurong point, boon lay. Headed there but the service kiosk was closed by then. Frantically called my resourceful uncle up and asked if he knew any place near by. Sure enough, he knew exactly where the tyre places were at the ulu west end of Sg. Headed over to IMM area and circled it a few times before turning into Toh Guan East where the tyre place is at. (my uncle told me just opp of IMM ma... how I know???) Drove into the garage and immediately 4 guys in mechanics jumpsuit started doing all sorts... one jacked the car up, another took the flat tyre out of my car boot and started mending it... One started removing my spare tyre from the wheel and the last one... well he was just standing there looking pretty. (He also sweat the most despite not doing anything). All done within 3 mins... (reminds me of Luigi and what's his face from "Cars" the animation) and a mere 8 bucks! I'm not saying that $8 is nothing... just that I had a much larger sum in mind... like a coupla tens... Oh well, now I know! No longer a flat tyre virgin! But then if it did happen again, I probably wouldn't be able to get the spare tyre up and running all on my own... sad case.

FartEd: Another way to meet guys... go get tyres fixed.. haha.

Let loose

It's been such a long while since I have nothing to do at work. Last Friday, I had my teleconference with the UK collaborator. They were happy with the results and all... but the next steps are still inconclusive, which leaves me with nothing to do till we talk through it again on Wednesday. It also sucks that Wooxy's on MC whole of this week to get her lasik done. Good luck babe... though when you're reading this, you're probably back at work already. It's so quiet in the office... can hear the humming sound of my PC from the other end of the room. My neighbour's sleeping.. maybe I should too.

So here's a quick recap on the weekend.

Friday
Finished teleconference and left work at 5PM. Was actually really tired from the telecon but gave Mona a call anyway... Picked her and Liah up and headed over to Sembawang to visit Sharinah. Stopped by at NTUC to pick up some ingredients to cook up a little something for the host. Left her place at ~10PM and headed to Suntec to let Liah off and pick SukFart up where we proceeded to meet Rae at Bugis for Ocean's 13. Thanks babe for the free movie (if you even read this). Sent Rae home, but not before stopping by some kopitiam for kopi-time.... much needed kopi-break. Can't recall the rest of the day.... did we stop by McDs?? Was it that night?

Saturday
Woke up ~3PM and met SukFart for Mani+Pedi @5.45I-ish. Parking was a nightmare @ Far East but what to do to save on ERP.... Hopped over to Lido and got tickets for 10.40PM screening of Shrek3. Was late for Mani+Pedi but what the hell right? Hmm didn't do anything much... walked left right centre and then met up with FartEd. By then it was ~10PM. Slowly made our way to Lido and bought our large Rootbeer to share.

The movie was hilarious..... well at least the 3 of us thought it was funny... The rest of the people either lacked sense of humour or just didn't get it. Like FartEd said, It's good to be in the know... hah. Spoke to a friend on MSN.. it's been a while since we chatted... learnt from her that she needed a guy.... something along the lines of needing a guy, but not wanting one. Well, hope that works out for you! And the same goes out to all you people out there waiting for the day you'll find your 白马王子.

Woke up ~3PM. Called SukFart & FartEd to see if they were up for Crabs @ Mellben AMK. Tried to jio some others but they couldn't make it... (some other time then) It's been a while since I've eaten those fleshy, yet juicy claws......... pincer if you'll like. FartEd was so engrossed that she sliced her thumb eating crabs.... hah... I would post the pic here but it's with FartEd. Am amazed by how much SukFart could stuff her face... amazed but not surprised. Hung out a while longer before I headed home in anticipation of my new BMB Ktv system!! By the time I reached home, the delivery guys were already waiting outside my door.
FartEd+SukFart> Going to the carwash isn't the only way to get attention from drenched men... You can always purchase something from Audiohouse and get it delivered. *wink*
Gross. Anyway, The BMB system and I hit it off right away... we were like 2 peas in a pod.. no no.. better... we're like bonnie and clyde.. ok at this point I forgive you for calling me crazy... but I'm just ecstatic... been eyeing the KTV system for the longest time.. now that i've layed my hands on them... muahahaha... It comes with 2 wireless mics so I can go to the loo with door opened and still sing (says FartEd). Now it's time to find more KTV DVDs... so Ciao for now... Plus now, I havea DVD player in the living room.. hurray!

Not So Real-time Update

Left work at ~7PM last night. I thought I'd be able to leave work promptly for once in a very long time... But being the responsible being I am, scanned through the slides to check if they were fine..... turns out, they weren't fine.... There was discrepancy in the magnifications... which meant that lots of measurements were wrong!! Thank God it wasn't all the data.... but still, I had to redo a big chunk of it. Called SukFart to see how she's doing... and arranged to have dinner. Was somewhat a grumbling session to let off some steam. Sat down at Fish&Co for dinner. Not long after, we were serenaded by the croaking of Indos at the table next to ours. Didn't have the urge to strangle someone so badly before. ("Somebody gonna get hurt real bad!" - Russell Peters)

I realised I haven't mentioned anything about Mayday's JUMP! 离开地球表面 Concert held at Max Pavilion, Expo on 2nd June 2007.

It was really really really(- there... said it 3X) fabuloso! HIGH 翻天! It started with a 7min video that they had spent a fortune on (imho, it was ok lah.. something different lor, but can do without if it meant that my concert tickets were cheaper.. haha I is cheapo... Having said that, I would have gladly paid more to sit front row seats!) Within the next hour, they managed to get the crowd standing and singing along to 《武装》、《香水》、《风若吹》、《轧车》、《为爱而生》、《晚安地球人》、《疯狂世界》、《雌雄同体》、《离开地球表面》、《透露》. That was just starters.... There was also Masa's solo where he sang 《Yellow》 and 《最重要的小事》... Man I had chills down my spine..... Other songs they sang included 《Paradise》, 《天使》，《志明与春娇》，《宠上天》，《憨人》，《垃圾车》， 《小时候》， 《I Love You 无望》， 《倔强》， 《恋爱ING》， 《孙悟空》, 《温柔》, 《我又初恋了》, 《我》, 《知足》... Next year they come, I'll be there for sure!!! Even the auntie next to SukFart joined some parts.... Oh was browsing through Youtube for concert clips... watched their HK concert... Masa sang Leslie's 追.. Audience sang more than he did actually... but it's such nice atmosphere.. The HK crowd also 很不赖喔！Managed to find someone who managed to take really really nice and clear photos... Looks like I've spent the whole morning blogging.... It's been a while... Boss not in today for some reason. Think she's sending the parents to airport... Hope I get to speak to her today... If not tml a bit rush. I will go look for my lunch khakis now and see if they wanna eat outside or what.

p.s: Woke up at 8.30AM... Reached work at 9.30AM... No parking space left!!! Students should be banned from driving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Panicked and decided to wrap up my experiments to start on the slides... (yes, I have not even started on the slides yet) OT-ed till 9.30 PM to finish up experiments. Wanted to start working on the slides but was really really (said it twice.. so better believe it) knackered. Drove myself home and still I had to go online.. even if only for a while. Crashed at ~midnight. Made sure to set my hp to wake me up at 6.15AM.

Tuesday
7.15AM - Home phone rings. "Harlow.. Ah Man Ling ah... Da Gu here. I will bring Ah Hong Xia's future mother in law to see the house today. Just let you know first ah..." KNN how many times does one have to view the freaking place... it's not like I live in a mansion... it's a freaking 3 bed room flat... You seen it inside out, outside in..... Does it not occur to you that it is rather inconvenient for you to pop by as and when you like... If it happens one more time, I swear I'll change the locks to the house! At least I'll get peace and quiet for the next 4 months!
Oh... and uh... 7.15AM??? F*CK. My alarm failed me... I think it's God's way of telling me, you need more sleep... Whatever, got to work at 8.30AM... Along with the rest of the colleagues who bus it in. (I was aiming to be at work by 7.30AM latest). Started the mundane crystal measuring routine.. then plotted graphs.. then got a few calls here and there... and then... and then... ZZzzz. Started working on the slides ~11AM. Skipped lunch altogether. Jozel offered to tapau but I simply could've fork out any time to chew. And we all know I can't multitask well. Ploughed through the rest of the day doing the same thing.
5.30PM - Received an sms from SukFart who was also under a lot of stressed. Decided to take a breather (since I was at slide # 51 at that point) and gave her a call to check on things... Heard her complain for a while and hung up not too long after. Carried on with slides #52 - 57 and decided to leave it as that. Sent boss the slides and left. (Note:Boss is on leave)

Wednesday
Here I am 10AM now... still no sign of boss.. she cheat my feelings.. Promised me she'll come in today early morning to work on the slides... seriously, am I the only one working on the project??? I need a partner man... Ok there's a safety meeting.. gotta go...

Post B'day/Concert/Weekend Blues.....

I had so much fun over the long weekend and now I'm drawn into depression... plus, it's Monday... and Friday's D-Day. The boss wants my slides tomorrow... I'm still running experiments. Have not had the time to measure the crystals.. It will take quite sometime too... Maybe it's time I down some chicken essence.... That's if I can bear with the smell.

Introducing...... Stone & Monster

Drove down to Ferrer Road to collect my hammies today... They're are soooo soo adorable!! I'm still trying to tell them apart.. They look pretty much the same to me.. except one loves to climb and one loves to eat.
